About Waumba Land
What does Waumba mean? Waumba is Swahili for Creator and this environment is the Creator’s Land. Waumba Land is our weekly environment created especially for your infants through Kindergarten-aged children. We can’t wait to meet them!
Waumba Land meets each Sunday at:
- 9:00 a.m.
- 10:30 a.m.
Our desire is to make Waumba Land an engaging and safe place where your child can be introduced to their Heavenly Father. Our mission is to INCITE WONDER IN THE HEART OF EVERY CHILD. We want to help preschoolers embrace a God who is bigger than their imagination.
We believe in an active, hands-on approach to learning with preschool children. So you can plan on a lot of jumping, singing, dancing and laughter in every experience. Be on the lookout for fun crafts and big games. We look forward to helping your preschoolers learn more about God!
We’ll CONNECT kids to a leader who believes in their potential, CHANGE how they see the world and their future, and HELP them experience something wonderful that they will never forget. Imagine if preschoolers grew up understanding THERE IS A HEAVENLY FATHER WHO LOVES THEM UNCONDITIONALLY.
It is our hope that every child will grow up BELIEVING:
- God MADE me.
- God LOVES me.
- Jesus wants to be my FRIEND forever.

What to Expect in Waumba Land
When you arrive, we will ask you to fill out a brief registration form and then a member of our host team will escort you to your child’s classroom. If you prefer, you can download our registration form fill it out and bring it with you when you visit.
We have a special ministry available at Keystone called One-2-One to help children with special needs. See our Special Needs page for more information.
We know that leaving your new baby for the first time in a new place can be overwhelming. Our volunteers have been chosen for this age group because of their love for babies and their training to care for all of the needs of your infant. Please label and bring diapers, bottles, pacifiers, and any special blankets that will help soothe your baby throughout the morning.
Toddlers & 2’s
This is a fun and active stage in your child’s life. We believe that even the smallest members of our church can begin to learn the amazing truths that God made them, God loves them, and Jesus wants to be their friend forever. Every week your child will learn a Bible story, participate in activities that reinforce the Bible story, and enjoy a little snack (be sure to make us aware of any allergies). Be sure to label and bring extra diapers, a change of clothes and any other items (besides toys) your child may need for their time in Waumba Land.
3’s to Kindergarteners
First impressions are important. We use the First Look curriculum, and it is designed to give preschool children a first impression of their loving Heavenly Father. From crazy fun activities, to crafts, to large group Bible story, to worship time, to small group Bible time – it’s all part of the plan to help a child believe three key things by the time they leave Waumba Land: God made me - God loves me - Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
Our curriculum builds on the idea that spiritual growth is relationally driven. When you put another trusted adult in the life of a child, besides their parents, you provide an additional clear voice reinforcing core values. So, our strategy emphasizes small groups, making it easy to connect kids to mentors and leaders who can personally invest in them.

You are your child’s BEST teacher! We believe that what happens at home is more important than what happens at church. We encourage you to take what your kids are learning in Waumba Land and talk about it all week long.
Parent Cue Resources
Each week we send home with your child a Parent Cue. This will help you keep conversations going all week long. The Parent Cue provides a summary of Sunday’s lesson along with the memory verse, and equips parents with ideas to integrate Sunday’s learning into everyday activities with your child throughout the week.
Here are a few suggestions for using these resources at home:
- Help your children learn their memory verses every month
- Grab a preschool Bible and read the story we talked about on Sunday with your children
- Do one of the simple and fun hands-on activities we highlight each week
- Pray with your children every night as you tuck them in
Parent Cue App
You can download The Parent Cue App for your smart phone. This App gives you access to what your kids are learning all the time. The App is updated weekly with what your kids are learning on Sundays and it’s full of fun things to do with your preschoolers.
