About UpStreet

UpStreet is our weekly environment created especially for your 1st through 5th grade-aged children. We can’t wait to meet them!
UpStreet meets each Sunday at:

  • 9:00 a.m.
  • 10:30 a.m.

Our goal is to instill three core principles based on the life of Jesus, who at the age of 12 “…grew in wisdom, stature and in favor with God and men.” (Luke 2:52.) By focusing on a different biblical virtue or character trait each month, we aim to help your child grow in wisdom, faith and friendship with God and others.

We believe the Bible should never be boring, worship is fun and good leaders always care. Before kids head off to middle school, we want to make sure these three things stick:

  1. I need to make the wise choice.
  2. I can trust God no matter what
.
  3. I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

The focus in UpStreet is our small group environment. We’ll connect kids to a small group leader and a group of their peers. We want kids to see how God’s word fits into their lives, to learn how to talk to Him, and to build friendships that will last.

We believe parents are the primary spiritual leaders in their children’s lives, and we know this is no easy task! That’s why we want our small group leaders to partner with parents to help kids build a foundation of faith and grow in their relationship with Jesus.

Sunday At A Glance

What happens in UpStreet? Kids are challenged every Sunday to trust God, make wise choices and build lasting friendships. Here’s what a typical morning looks like in UpStreet.

Welcome: Children are met by their small group leader in their classroom. The kids participate with their small group in an activity meant to introduce the bottom line message we want kids to walk away with and remember that day.

Large Group Environment: Shortly after arriving, kids are moved to the large group environment where they have their own time of worship and hear the Bible story told in an engaging, kid-friendly way.

Small Group Environment: After large group, kids move back into their small group area where their leaders help them understand how the day’s bottom line message can fit into their everyday lives.

Our curriculum builds on the idea that spiritual growth is relationally driven. When you put another trusted adult in the life of a child, in partnership with their parents, you provide an additional clear voice reinforcing core values. So, our strategy emphasizes small groups, making it easy to connect kids to mentors and leaders who can personally invest in them, while building lasting friendships with peers.

Parents

You are your child’s BEST teacher! We believe that what happens at home is more important than what happens at church. We encourage you to take what your kids are learning in UpStreet and talk about it all week long.

Parent Cue Resources

Each week we send home with your child a Parent Cue. This will help you keep conversations going all week long. The Parent Cue provides a summary of Sunday’s lesson along with the memory verse, and equips parents with ideas to integrate Sunday’s learning into everyday activities with your child throughout the week.

Here are a few suggestions for using these resources at home:

  • Help your children learn their memory verses every month.
  • Grab a children’s Bible and read the story we talked about on Sunday with your child.
  • Do one of the simple and fun hands-on activities we highlight each week.
  • Pray with your children every night as you tuck them in.

Parent Cue App

You can download the Parent Cue App for your smart phone. This App gives you access to what your kids are learning all the time. The App is updated weekly with what your kids are learning on Sundays, and it’s full of fun things to do at home.
