Dear Keystone Family,

The Coronavirus has been detected in Michigan and I wanted to take a moment to communicate with you on our response as a church. Although an individual’s risk of infection remains low in our area, we also know that those who are most vulnerable, those with underlying health conditions or who are immunocompromised, are at greater risk of serious health consequences if they are exposed to this virus. We are not interested in feeding the panic that some are experiencing but we do not want to be unresponsive about a serious health concern in our community.

Following the recommendation of our state and county Health Department to postpone gatherings of over 100 people in a shared space, Keystone will be suspending our regularly scheduled services and programs for Sunday, March 15th and March 22nd. This is a preventative step to reduce the potential spread of the virus and not due to any cases of infection in our church or community. After March 22nd, we will evaluate conditions and decide our next steps.

Although we will not be physically meeting at Keystone the Live stream will be ON! We will provide online streaming of our worship experience LIVE at 10:30 AM on both of those Sundays and will be available to view throughout the day and week at https://keystonechurch.us/live/

Family Ministry Plans:

The church office will remain open and small groups will continue to meet at their own discretion. For those who typically give through the drop boxes, online giving is available and necessary as we continue to meet our budget and financial obligations as a church. http://keystonechurch.us/giving/

With area schools closing for an extended period of time, we know that single-parent families and families where both parents are required to work outside the home are going to face some significant challenges. As a church, we have a unique opportunity to Love Where We Live by providing support to under-resourced families in our community. We are in discussions about how best to help and will provide details as soon as possible.

We did not take this step lightly and apologize for any inconvenience it may cause but out of an abundance of caution, our leadership team felt it was important for us to support our government and health leaders in their attempt to mitigate the spread and severity of this Coronavirus. We will keep you informed if anything else develops.

In the meantime, please:

  1. Follow the recommendations of the Center For Disease Control (cdc.gov)

  2. Wash your hands. Clean hands are a huge preventative measure. Sing “Jesus Loves Me” while washing and it will take you at least 20 seconds.

  3. Avoid handshaking. Greet each other with a Holy elbow bump or wave.

  4. Avoid touching your face and cover all coughs and sneezes preferably with tissues.

  5. If you are feeling sick or a member of your household is sick, stay home.

  6. If you or members of your household have significant underlying health conditions* be thoughtful and cautious.

  7. Pray for those who have contracted the virus, the medical teams that are providing treatment and our governmental leaders as they navigate very difficult choices in the days ahead.

Stay informed, practice healthy habits and keep praying for our community, nation, and world.

In Him,

Pastor Ken
