Welcome to Day 1 of our 40 Days of Prayer. On this page, you are going to find daily helps and guides for your prayer time. We are asking that you set aside time in the morning and in the evening to pray. John Piper says that “Prayer is intentionally conveying a message to God.” It is actually that simple. So, if you are a prayer warrior or a prayer toddler, this is one thing all of us can do. To begin our 40 Days, we are going to keep things simple. I am simply asking you to think through the words of the Lord’s Prayer and then pray this prayer to our Heavenly Father. You can keep it pluralized by saying “Our” and “Us” or maybe even personalize it by saying “My” and “Me”.
If you want to take things to another level, you can begin by expanding your prayer time and follow the pattern of prayer that is established by the prayer Jesus taught us to pray.
Pattern For Prayer
- Recognize Who God Is
- Praise Him, Thank Him, Honor Him,
- Pray for His Kingdom & Will
- Pray for your needs (and wants)
- Pray to be forgiven and forgiving
- Pray for protection and deliverance
The most important thing is to make sure you designate a time and a place to pray and do so….RELIGIOUSLY! 🙂 When you reach that time and that place, pray the way Jesus taught us to pray:
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name
Your kingdom come, your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins,
as we also forgive everyone who sins against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
For yours is the kingdom and the power
and the glory forever. AMEN!
