What if My Child Asks to be Baptized?

If your child expresses interest in being baptized, we encourage you (as the parent) to listen to Pastor Ken’s teaching on Baptism. We also have some great videos for your kids that can help explain what it means to be a Christian and what baptism is all about. After viewing the videos speak with your child about their decision and if they are ready to go, keep reading.

We do not have a minimum age requirement for baptism but ask that parents use discernment in allowing their child to be baptized. If a child confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and understands what it means to be a follower of Christ, they may be baptized.

If you would like to discuss your child’s readiness for baptism with a staff member, please complete a Connect Form and a member of our team will contact you.

Baptism Next Steps

If you feel your child is ready to be baptized, then please download, print and fill out this Baptism Registration Form – Kid’s Edition.  You can bring your completed form to Guest Services on Sunday morning or to the office during the week.  We will then contact you to schedule a meeting with one of our Pastors to talk through the biblical basis for baptism, review your child’s registration form and answer any questions you and your child may have.  We will also guide you through the remaining steps in the Baptism Process (see steps 3-5).

Here is an example of one child’s recent testimony.

Are Infants Baptized?

Some denominations choose to baptize infants. While we recognize the right of other churches to practice infant baptism, we understand Scripture to teach that only professing believers qualify for baptism. Baptism does not make you a believer; rather, it shows that you already believe. However, at Keystone we endeavor to follow the example of Jesus by welcoming little children into God’s kingdom with a Baby Dedication ceremony.
