TN15 Day 1 Worksite Update:
Day 1 of our time here in Tennessee is in the books! Despite a couple minor injuries on the worksite, the day has gone really well. After breakfast this morning, our group headed over to the worksite. The homeowner is a single mom named Kelly. She and her 2 children live in a small house in the hills of eastern Tennessee. In the past 8-10 months, multiple things have happened to their house and in their lives that have made things really tough for them. A tree fell down and took out a good church of fence and the powerline to the house. Because of overgrown trees and shrubs throughout her property, along with various other difficulties and complications, they have been without power for 8 months! The home is also missing many windows, the deck has rotten out completely, and pieces of her siding are falling off.
Today was a fantastic start at turning some of those things around. We began clearing out a lot of overgrown trees, weeds, and shrubs, which will make it possible for power to eventually be restored to the house. Teams of students and leaders did a fantastic job of working hard and working together to clean up the outside and inside of the home. We were also able to demolish the deck, tear it down, and prepare to rebuild a new one in the next couple of days. We are excited to share the love of Christ with Kelly and her family, as we help them improve their living arrangements. She has expressed such deep appreciation and happiness about us being here to help. You can check out a few of our Monday worksite pictures below. God is doing some great things in us and through us, and we’re looking forward to what he has in store for us the rest of the week!
Thanks for all of your prayers and support!
