When Matthew writes his account of Jesus life, he begins with a little family history, and it is a bit surprising who he includes and excludes in the list. He includes some not-so-flattering charaters. Why? Because Matthew knew, from personal experience, that Jesus' invitation to follow was open to anyone and everyone - even those with a tainted past.
